Chilliwack M.P. Strahl calling on groups to seek federal grant to develop senior supports
CHILLIWACK — A local M.P. is calling on organizations to access a government program for funding to develop supports for seniors. Mark Strahl, the Member of Parliament for Chilliwack—Hope, is urging local groups to apply for funding for community-based projects as part of the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) call for proposals.
The NHSP aims to enhance the quality of life for seniors through projects that address a wide range of issues, from social isolation to health challenges. Projects may include activities such as community events, volunteer programs, and health and wellness workshops. The goal is to ensure seniors remain active, engaged, and healthy members of their communities.
“We deeply value the contributions seniors in Chilliwack—Hope make to our country,” said Strahl. “They have worked hard to support their families, build strong communities, and grow our economy.”
Local organizations are encouraged to develop proposals that align with the NHSP’s objectives. Successful projects in the past have included everything from intergenerational mentoring programs to community gardens and fitness classes tailored for seniors.
