HOPE — BC Highway Patrol says it is looking to speak with any witnesses who may have driven past the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision earlier this week.

According to a statement from Corporal Melissa Jongema of BC Highway Patrol, police say Hope RCMP members received a report of a fatal pedestrian collision on Monday, July 29 at 12:59 a.m. west of exit 165, Flood Hope Road, on Highway 1. Although the collision was reported at 12:59 a.m., police suspect the collision happened sometime between midnight and 12:45 a.m.

Police say the pedestrian may have been seen walking on the side of the highway prior to the collision and may be related to a motorcycle in the area, said Cpl. Melissa Jongema.

Police say they are appealing to commercial vehicles, and anyone with a dash camera who may have been travelling westbound or eastbound on Highway 1 in the exit 165 area between midnight and 1 a.m. on July 29, 2024, to contact BC Highway Patrol at (604) 702-4039 and refer to file 2024-32071.
