CHILLIWACK — Shandhar Hut Indian Cuisine, a fixture in Chilliwack on Young Road known for making dishes most popular from the Punjab province in India, has opened a new location in Chilliwack as a testament to perseverance.

The family made it official Wednesday (July 17) in a social media post where they expressed gratitude to Tzeachten First Nation for the new opening four years in the making.

“After four very hard years, we finally did it. We have opened our doors at our Sardis location on Tzeachten land,” Shandhar Hut said. “We are still in a soft opening phase but we welcome all customers.”

The restaurant is currently setting up its online ordering system but customers are still welcome to order over the phone by dialing 604-793-0188 and selecting option 2 for Sardis.

The new location is 6050 Chilliwack River Road.

Shandhar Hut says its liquor license and online ordering system are still being processed, and will advise customers when they are good to go on both fronts.

“Please be patient with us as we have new staff learning the dynamics of our new venue and kitchen, but rest assured – you will not be disappointed,” the restaurant said. “We would like to thank you for your continued support and we look forward to dazzling our customers in our new space. A special thank you to Tzeachten First Nations for everything you have done for us.”

Shandhar Hut will continue to operate its location at 8835 Young Road. According to its website, the Atti family has been a part of the Chilliwack community since the early 1970s.

Our menu focuses on dishes most popular in the Punjab province of India.
