Update: Power restored following massive outage that impacted 5,500+ in Hope, Sunshine Valley, and surrounding areas

**Update at 1:09 p.m. Monday: Power has been restored to most parts of Hope and the surrounding area Monday afternoon.**
HOPE — BC Hydro says over 5,500 customers in Hope, Silver Creek, Laidlaw, Dogwood Valley, Manning Park, Haig, Othello and the surrounding areas are without power Monday morning.
1,700 customers in Othello, Sunshine Valley, Manning Park and parts of Eastgate on Hwy. 3 (Crowsnest Highway) are without power Monday morning due to a fire.
According to a post from BC Hydro’s on its X/Twitter account at 10:39 a.m., 1,701 customers lost power at 10:23 a.m. due to a fire in the area.
