Shooting in Abbotsford hospitalizes 38-year-old man Thursday morning

ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say a 38-year-old male has been hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound from a shooting early Thursday morning in the 2000 block of Topaz Street.

According to a statement from Constable Art Stele, Abby PD patrol officers were dispatched for a reported weapons complaint Thursday (July 11) at 5:06 a.m. at a residence on Topaz Street. When police arrived, a 38-year-old male was found to have sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital.

AbbyPD Major Crime Unit detectives have taken over the investigation with the assistance of patrol officers and the Forensic Identification Section.

Investigators are in the preliminary stages of this investigation; however, the initial investigation suggests this to be a targeted incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
