Hope Fire tackles dangerous fires on back-to-back nights at Silver Skagit Road homeless camp
HOPE — The fire chief of the Hope Fire Department says his firefighting crews faced dangerous conditions this week after being dispatched to a homeless camp on Silver Skagit Road on back-to-back nights, south of Hope.
According to a social media post from the department, firefighters responded to separate incidents Monday night and Tuesday night (May 27 and 28) involving the destruction of recreational and nearby motor vehicles.
The location of the fires appears to be just beyond Hope Fire Department’s normal coverage area.
Hope Fire Chief Thomas Cameron says there are no further details on any injuries or cause of these fires. The Upper Fraser Valley RCMP detachment is overseeing the investigation of the fires, which are likely suspicious.
