CHILLIWACK — It’s not every day that you see a rifle attached to the handlebars of a motorcycle.

Or so a bystander thought when they contacted police over the weekend about a possible weapons incident involving a motorcycle rider.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says Mounties were alerted on Saturday, May 18 at 1:51 p.m. about a possible weapons call in Promontory where a motorcycle was observed traveling on the roadway with a rifle attached to the handlebars.

Police responded to the area and located the motorcycle at a nearby residence and spoke with the registered owner who was cooperative with law enforcement. Cpl. Kiener says RCMP members inspected the rifle and determined it was an unloaded airsoft gun, adding that the motorcycle and replica firearm were later determined to be World War II historical artifacts.
