CHILLIWACK — A local company normally tasked with patrolling local parks and schools and moving loiterers away from the entrance to downtown businesses has had one of its security guards assaulted.

According to a news brief from Chilliwack RCMP Corporal Carmen Kiener, spokesperson for the local detachment, Mounties in Chilliwack were dispatched on Sunday, May 5 at approximately 10 p.m. after receiving a report that a Griffin Security guard had been assaulted by a lone male.

Police say Griffin Security guards had asked the male to remove himself and his belongings from a private property in the downtown Chilliwack area. Cpl. Kiener said the male became aggressive and assaulted one security guard.

But the bad guy didn’t get away. Police were able to identify the male through undisclosed investigative avenues and locate him nearby. He was subsequently arrested and held in police custody to appear in court at a later date and time.
