Update: Truck crash now cleared in Abbotsford along Highway 1

Update at 10 a.m.: The eastbound vehicle incident affecting traffic near Sumas Way and Highway 1 in Abbotsford has now been cleared.

Update at 9:10 a.m.: Drive BC says an eastbound vehicle incident at Sumas Way is in the clearing stages as of 8:37 a.m., but the exit remains blocked. A westbound vehicle incident is blocking the left lane. Motorists should “expect major delays.”

ABBOTSFORD — Traffic is exceptionally slow on Highway 1 through Abbotsford Thursday morning after a commercial vehicle incident occurred near the Sumas Way intersection (exit 92).

According to DriveBC, an eastbound vehicle incident at the Sumas Way exit ramp has resulted in backups for several kilometres in both directions of the highway.

The Sumas Way exit is currently blocked as of 8:03 a.m. Crews are on scene.

Motorists are asked to take an alternate route and to expect major delays.

According to a social media post, a truck reportedly hit and took out an off-ramp barrier on the eastbound ramp heading toward Chilliwack.
