CHILLIWACK — In addition to three existing farmers markets north of Highway 1 in Chilliwack, two more established farmers markets are set to open for the 2024 season in May, including one that appears to be entering its 14th season in Sardis.

Founded in 2011, the Artisan & Farm Market at Sardis Park, as it is formally known, opens Wednesday night, May 1 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Sardis Park east of Vedder Road. They’re going to have three food trucks, including Ma Baker’s, Chicken On Tires and Kona Ice of Chilliwack.

The vendor items consist of canned good offerings, micro greens, fresh juices, eggs, spice blends, in season vegetables, baking, candles, jewelry, wood crafts, fly fishing lures, crochet, and more.

Temperatures are expected to be a bit windy and chilly, like a typical spring evening in Chilliwack.

The Artisan & Farm Market at Sardis Park will feature live music from Daven Atma.

The second farmers market slated to open in May, albeit a little later in the month, is the Yarrow Farm Market at Yarrow Pioneer Park, 4390 Kehler Street. Their 4-month season kicks off on Friday, May 24 and continues through to the end of September, including an appearance during Yarrow Days, every Friday night.

Lyndsay Edward of the Yarrow Farm Market team says they’re expecting anywhere from 40-60 vendors each week selling anything from baked goods, produce, ceramics, jewelry, artwork, and anything in between.

Of note, the upcoming fun run as part of Yarrow Days will be held Friday night rather than Saturday morning, and will wrap up at the market.

The other three farmers markets in Chilliwack, located north of Highway 1, are the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market (opening May 26), a re-branded farmers market that will now function in Central Community Park in downtown Chilliwack, and the Market at the Coliseum.
