Alberni Valley sweeps Chilliwack out of BCHL playoffs
CHILLIWACK — Callum Tung stopped 24 of 26 shots to lead the Alberni Valley Bulldogs to a 3 – 2 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs Wednesday (Apr. 24) night in Port Alberni. The win gave the Bulldogs a sweep of the best-of-seven second round BCHL playoff series.
Parker Murray and Mateo Mrsic scored goals for the Chiefs who were outscored 14 to 5 over the four games in the series.
The Chiefs finished the regular season in second place in the Coastal Division, two points ahead of the third-place Bulldogs. Chilliwack bounced Langley in four straight games in the first round of the playoffs.
Alberni Valley will move on to face the winner of the Surrey/Victoria series in the next round. That series is tied 2 – 2.
