Forest fire north of Chilliwack Lake Rd.

Forest fire breaks out Thursday afternoon just north of Chilliwack Lake Road; fire appears to be out as of 5 p.m.

CHILLIWACK — Multiple Chilliwack Fire Department engines along with forestry personnel have been dispatched for a forest fire just north of 46145 Chilliwack Lake Road Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported to dispatch at 4:12 p.m., prompting at least six fire engines to be dispatched. Flames and smoke emanated from the hillside and forested terrain behind 46145 Chilliwack Lake Road, just down the road from Bridlewood Events Centre.

Smoke continues to pour from the hillside at 4:42 p.m. as crews attack the fire and work to suppress it.

The fire appears to be successfully extinguished as of 5 p.m.
