Burger giant known for square burgers and Frosty desserts set to open soon in Hope

HOPE — It’s the last possible stop on Highway 1 to eat and get gas before Lower Mainland motorists make their way through the Coquihalla, Fraser Canyon or Allison Pass on their way to the B.C. Interior, Merritt or Manning Park.

And now, one more dining option is coming for the tens of thousands of motorists who pass through the District of Hope each week, or the nearly 7,000 residents who call the municipality home.

The fast food giant known for square-shaped burgers and Frosty frozen desserts appears to be coming to Hope sometime this year.

A sign inviting prospective employees to apply for a job at Wendy’s fast food restaurant has been draped across a commercial building under construction at the corner of 7th Avenue and Old Hope Princeton Way, across the street from the Hope RCMP detachment at 690 Old Hope Princeton Way, according to Hope resident Alisha Kujawski, who added that the parking lot of the new Wendy’s was just paved yesterday (Tuesday, Apr. 16).

Wendy’s will join a number of quick serve eateries in town including McDonald’s and Starbucks. Hope also has recognizable industry names like Papa Johns, Booster Juice, and Boston Pizza, in addition to several sit-down restaurants in town.
