CHILLIWACK — The farmers market crowd on the north side of Chilliwack will be getting another participant starting this weekend.

A farmers market that had been operating for several years in Sardis near the library on Tyson Road says it will open with vendors under a newly re-branded name and a new location.

Vedder Farm and Artisan Market wrote on social media this past week that it will open this weekend at Central Community Park in downtown Chilliwack, 45951 Victoria Avenue, and function under the newly re-branded name of Chilliwack Central Park Market.

According to its Facebook page, the Chilliwack Central Park Market says it features fresh, locally grown and produced food and artisan products in a family-oriented, casual, fun atmosphere.

The announcement means there could be three farmers markets on the north side of town, including this one, the Downtown Chilliwack Community Market which operates in a parking lot near Mill Street and Wellington Avenue, and the Market at the Coliseum at 45323 Hodgins Avenue.

Market at the Coliseum was open Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. between May 30 and September 26, 2023.

The Downtown Chilliwack Community Market Society (DCCM), also known as the Chilliwack Market, is making plans for what it calls a “vibrant” 22-week showcase of local food, art and handmade products ahead of the 2024 market season.

In a news release dated Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the society hopes to attract vendors and artisans alike for a season that kicks off May 26 and runs until October 20. The Chilliwack Market describes itself as a community of local growers, crafters, and gatherers that congregate every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer their products to the broader community.
