Dispatch advised responding firefighters there were no nearby exposures and there was no one reportedly inside the trailer when flames arose.

Chilliwack Engine 4 advised dispatch at 12:03 p.m. that flames were showing from the front door and a window.

Chilliwack Assistant Fire Chief Krista Minar released a statement Thursday afternoon (4:35 p.m.) saying 11 firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 were dispatched for the report of a motorhome on fire on Cartmell Road. Firefighters responded and discovered flames coming from the entry door of the motorhome.

“The quick actions of the firefighters helped contain and extinguish the fire, minimizing damage to the unit,” Assistant Fire Chief Minar stated. “Thankfully, there were no injuries reported among the firefighters or the occupant, who had safely evacuated the motorhome.”

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental in nature.

“Chilliwack residents are urged to ensure that clear exit pathways are maintained in homes, businesses, travel trailers, and motorhomes, as this is vital for a safe evacuation during a fire emergency, given the rapid spread of fires,” Minar said.
