CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra invites the community to experience the magic of music at its upcoming concert entitled “Voices” on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.

Spectators can expect to relish an evening of captivating performances by esteemed choirs, including the majestic harmonies of the Vancouver Orpheus Male Choir, the nostalgic melodies of Company B, the youthful energy of Voces Gioventu Children’s Choir, and the enchanting vocals of Belle Voci Acappella Ensemble.

Liana Savard has been the artistic director of the Vancouver Orpheus Male Voice Choir since 2005, and VOCE, the Vancouver Orpheus Chamber Choir, since 2019. She also has a thriving piano and vocal studio at the Langley Community Music School, offers Musicianship (Aural Skills) classes, and serves as the Youth Chairperson for the BC Choral Federation.

The program lineup features a beloved choral selections of a capella and masterpieces combined with the orchestra. Musical artists will perform the following: Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho, by Steve Barnett; Rejoice o Virgin, by Sergei Rachmaninoff; Ave Generosa, by Ola Gjeilo; The Sun Never Says, by Dan Forrest; Give us Hope, by Jim Papoulis; Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, by Don Raye; Bei Mir Bist Du Shön, by S Secunda; Ad Astra, Jacob by Narverud; Fisherman’s Son, by Jimmy Rankin; Blow Ye the Trumpet, by Kirke Mechem; and more.

The evening will also feature a performance from F.G. Leary Integrated Arts and Technology School’s intermediate choir under the capable direction of Crystal Boyes.
