ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police say they have detained a motorist who was observed traveling at high speeds, swerving all over the road, driving on the wrong side of Hwy. 1, and running multiple red lights over the weekend.

According to a news release from Constable Art Stele, spokesperson for the AbbyPD, Surrey RCMP received reports of an erratic driver operating a red 2016 Chevy Cruze on 100 Avenue from 148 Street on Sunday, April 7 at 3:44 p.m. Residents reported seeing the vehicle speeding, swerving and running several red lights.

Reports continued to come into the Surrey RCMP advising that the vehicle was proceeding north along 160 Street towards Highway 1. Once the motorist reached the highway, the suspect vehicle was observed proceeding eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 1. Police attended the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

At 5:19 p.m. Sunday evening, Abbotsford Police received 911 calls reporting the same suspect vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes in the 33500 block of Marshall Road in Abbotsford. Members of the AbbyPD Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) immediately attended to the area, located the vehicle, and were able to apprehend the driver.
