MISSION — Correctional staff at a Fraser Valley prison hit the jackpot this past week, seizing contraband and other items valued at nearly $300,000.
On Sunday, March 17, thanks to the alert vigilance of staff members, contraband and unauthorized items were seized in the medium security unit at Mission Institution, according to a news release from Correctional Service Canada dated Tuesday, Mar. 19.
The illicit seizure consisted of two smartphones and accessories, methamphetamine, and other drugs. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $298,310.
The police have been notified, presumably the Mission RCMP detachment, and the institution says it is investigating.
