Langley RCMP respond to fatal marine incident
LANGLEY — Langley RCMP are investigating an incident late Saturday (Mar. 16) afternoon that claimed the life of a 65-year-old man on the Fraser River.
Police were called to the Fraser River near the 21400 block of Allard Crescent at approximately 5 p.m. Saturday. The operator of a boat on the river was in distress.
Investigators believe the man was the lone occupant of the boat that had struck a metal piling in the Derby Reach area.
RCMP, along with first responders from the Township of Langley Fire Department and BC Ambulance Service attempted to save the man, but he succumbed to his injuries.
