“We had eight boys go to the camp and they all showed very well,” said G.W. Graham varsity head coach Ryk Piché. “I’m super excited to see where this season takes us.”

In addition to Sandau and Boyd, the remaining players who participated in the camp included offensive linemen Ian Simpson, Zach Corrigan and Jacob Stoneson, wide receivers Logan (Smurf) Murphy and Jackson Gamboa, and strong safety Raine Carson.

Coach Piché took on a leadership role as head coach and offensive coordinator for the varsity team Black.

The camp is one of many things the G.W. Graham program undertakes in the off-season, including an upcoming camp the Grizzlies will be hosting next month.

“We’ll be hosting a kids camp in April for all the public ages 5-12 years old, and then having our spring camp in June,” Coach Piché said. “Then, as soon as that is done, we’re off to Eastern Washington University for a team camp where we plan on bringing both JV and varsity teams to camp. There’ll be over 20 schools from across the Pacific Northwest to as far down as California.”

The kids camp in April is especially imperative for Piché because he sees the camp as an opportunity to connect with the community.

“We’re working on a flyer with all the information,” Coach Piché said. “We feel it’s important our boys from the program learn about giving back to the community.”
