Chilliwack and Abbotsford Avian Flu control zones dropped

CHILLIWACK — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says it has revoked two poultry control zone orders in B.C.
It says the measure was invoked in premises in Abbotsford and Chilliwack in November after detecting outbreaks of the highly contagious bird flu.
Both control zones were officially ended Saturday (Mar. 16), with the agency saying this happens when post-outbreak surveillance determines there are no more cases of avian flu found.
The CFIA website says there were 13 infected sites in B.C. as of March 5, and 145 previously infected sites that have affected more than six million birds.
