Charge laid in Abbotsford domestic homicide

ABBOTSFORD — 41-year-old Balwinder Kaur has been identified as the victim in Friday night’s (Mar. 15) homicide in Abbotsford.

When Abbotsford police arrived on the scene of a residence on Wagner Drive around 10:50 p.m., they discovered the woman lying on the ground with stab wounds. First responders acted immediately to save her life. However, she died a short time later in hospital.

With the support of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), the woman’s 50-year-old husband, Jagpreet Singh was arrested and charged with second-degree murder according to an IHIT news release.

“This was an isolated incident,” said Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. “IHIT will continue to work with AbbyPD over the coming days, not only to advance this investigation, but to support the community affected by this tragedy.”
