CHILLIWACK — There were no injuries when a train en route from Vancouver to Toronto was forced to stop and evacuate all 121 passengers and crew members near Agassiz Friday (Mar. 1).
CTV News is reporting the train encountered debris on the tracks which Via Rail said led to a fuel leak. The train’s engine and several cars were damaged in the incident.
An investigation has been launched by CN Rail police and the RCMP. They are hoping to learn how the debris got onto the tracks.
The passengers were placed on buses and driven to Kamloops, Jasper or back to Vancouver.
