CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack says it is accepting submissions from photographers that are interested in documenting its Canada Day festivities later this year.

In a social media post Monday morning (Mar. 4), the municipality invites photographers who are willing to photograph the city’s Canada Day 2024 celebration at Townsend Park on July 1, 2024 from 5 p.m. through 10:30 p.m.

In a description on its website, the city makes it clear they will retain ownership of the photos for future marketing purposes, as well as provide the images for sponsorship fulfillments, vendors and reports. The photographer may take photos of individuals under the age of 18, however, they will need to get a guardian’s contact information so that the city can ask them by email to use the photos for any public-facing materials.

Eligibility criteria include qualified photographers who have a relationship to Chilliwack, are willing to sign a legal contract with the city, and can work for 5 1/2 hours on Canada Day during the designated hours.
