MISSION — A 54-year-old man was arrested by Mission RCMP last week after he allegedly entered a seniors facility, disrobed, played piano and then assaulted an officer when police tried to subdue him.

According to a social media post from the detachment, Mounties in Mission say staff at a senior living facility on 7th Avenue in Mission called police after a 54-year-old man unaffiliated with the residential facility entered the premises on Saturday, February 24, rambled to himself, took off all his clothes and began playing piano in one of the common areas while fully unclothed.

A police officer met with staff at the senior facility who advised police they were very concerned for the safety of the elderly residents. The 54-year-old naked man initially complied with police, but then allegedly assaulted the police officer without warning, and threw several chairs at the officer. Mission RCMP say the officer sustained considerable head injuries but was able to subdue the man and take him into custody.

The male was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to hospital. The officer was treated at hospital and released later that day.
