City of Chilliwack to build accessible playground at Sardis Park
CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack announced Wednesday morning (Feb. 28) that construction will begin next month on an accessible playground for toddlers at Sardis Park.
The city wrote in a news release that the upgraded play area is intended to offer unique play value and experiences for children ages 2-5 and integrate accessible features.
The playground will consist of accessible swing, rubber surfacing, ramped entry, and a sun cover for warm summer days. The well-loved existing turtle will be re-incorporated into the new playground and a turtle theme will extend across the play area.
“We are committed to improving the accessibility of our parks, and we are pleased to partner with the Chilliwack Mt. Cheam Rotary Club on this project,” said Mayor Popove. “Once complete, this playground will offer another inclusive play space for children in Chilliwack.”
