
Cheam First Nation acquires Chilliwack golf course
CHILLIWACK — Cheam First Nation announced this week that it has acquired Bridal Veil Golf Course in Chilliwack, a move that represents a significant expansion of the First Nations’ land base.
According to a news release from the company dated Monday, February 26, this strategic acquisition reflects Cheam’s goal of fostering economic growth while carefully preserving and promoting Indigenous cultural heritage.
“Under the visionary leadership of the new Chief and Council, Cheam is dedicated to building businesses that align with their core values of environmental stewardship and cultural preservation,” Cheam First Nation said in a statement. “The acquisition of Bridal Veil Golf Course is a crucial step towards realizing Cheam’s vision for Indigenous cultural ecotourism initiatives. These newly acquired lands will play a pivotal role in creating awareness of Cheam and Sto:lo history and culture.”
Cheam says it hopes showcase the natural beauty of the region while sharing the rich tapestry of Indigenous traditions.
