HEMLOCK VALLEY — Grappling with a winter without much snow that has shuttered most of its operations, Sasquatch Mountain Resort north of Agassiz says it has tentative plans to reopen next week.

According to the company’s latest update, the resort intends to reopen as soon as next week Thursday, February 29.

“As we navigate through the whims of winter, we’re committed to keeping you informed every step of the way. After careful consideration of the current conditions and the latest weather forecasts, we are excited to announce our optimistic plan to reopen on February 29,” Sasquatch wrote on Facebook.

Sasquatch cited the latest weather report that calls for favorable snowfall, thereby aligning with its planned reopening.

“This forecast has been instrumental in setting our sights on February 29, marking the day we hope to kickstart our winter adventures together. We share your enthusiasm for getting back on the snow!” Sasquatch wrote.

The company says all plans are now subject to the latest weather report and conditions, but remains adaptable to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our community.

Over the past three weeks, the ski hill has posted several times on Facebook lamenting the closure of its resort amid unseasonably warm weather and precipitation.

“As we navigate through winter’s whims, we’re extending our pause through Feb 8th, patiently waiting for Mother Nature to grace us with some generous snow dumps,” Sasquatch wrote on Facebook in early February. “We are continuously monitoring the mountain’s conditions and will keep you updated with any new developments. Stay tuned to our social media for the latest news.”

The resort said Molly’s Bar & Grill remains open, offering a venue for warm and delicious treats as resort staff eagerly await snowier days ahead. It thanked its customers for their understanding.

“Your understanding and patience light up our community. Together, we’re looking forward to brighter days filled with laughter, adventure, and shared memories on the slopes. Thank you for being the heart of Sasquatch Mountain,” the resort wrote on Sunday, February 4 at 11:26 a.m.

Sasquatch posted a similar note on January 31 advising customers that the resort would be closed through to Sunday, February 4, dependent on more snow.

“We’re deeply grateful for your understanding and patience. Your support means everything to us, and we’re diligently working to ensure your next visit is as enjoyable as ever. Stay tuned for more updates, and a heartfelt thank you for being such an amazing community! Looking forward to seeing you soon with, hopefully, fresh snow and new adventures!” Sasquatch wrote on Jan. 31.
