RCMP Indigenous Policing to host Chilliwack rugby camp for Indigenous youth in March
CHILLIWACK — Rugby Canada is partnering with RCMP Indigenous Policing Services to conduct an Indigenous Rugby Camp next month in Chilliwack.
The initiative is meant to showcase talent and promote leadership among Indigenous youth. The camp will be held on Friday, March 29 during spring break at G.W. Graham Secondary School in Chilliwack. The Thunder Rugby Camp & Celebration event runs from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by dinner and speakers at 6 p.m. at Tzeachten Hall at 6 p.m.
According to a news release from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener, this event seeks to celebrate Indigenous culture while providing a local platform for skill development, mentorship, and community building embedded in the sport of rugby.
Through on-field training sessions, the camp hopes to meet the following objectives:
