Chilliwack Pride Society seeks council approval for annual festival funding
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Pride Society is seeking financial support from the city council. In a funding application submitted to the council, the society has requested $5 thousand to help cover event expenses. Alongside the application, a support letter from Liv Bartel and the Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association advocates for the positive impact the festival has on the community.
The Chilliwack Pride Festival is scheduled for July 21. The event, held on Mill Street, Wellington and Victoria Avenue, along with Central Community Park, promises a day filled with food, art, artisans, vendors, musicians, and performers.
City council will consider a staff recommendation to approve the funding from the Community Development Initiative Funding. The recommendation suggests meeting the request based on submitted receipts and mandates the event organizers to fulfill all reporting requirements outlined in the policy directive. Furthermore, any surplus funding is expected to be returned.
Council is expected to make its decision Tuesday (Feb. 20) afternoon at its regular meeting.
