Chilliwack Chiefs looking to move up to second place over Family Day long weekend
CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Chiefs are preparing for what could be the biggest weekend of their season. The BCHL club will be in action three times over the B.C. Family Day weekend.
They’ll host the Coquitlam Express Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Chilliwack Coliseum. Saturday night the Powell River Kings roll into the Coliseum for a 6 p.m. contest and then Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., the Chiefs will host Cowichan Valley.
After winning six of their last seven games, Chilliwack enters the weekend in third place in the BCHL Coastal Division standings. They are just one point behind the second place Alberni Valley Bulldogs. The Bulldogs play just twice over the weekend. So if the Chiefs can sweep their weekend games at home, they’ll be guaranteed to be in second place by Monday evening.
Friday’s game against Coquitlam is SPCA night and will feature a ceremonial faceoff with River the dog dropping the puck.
