Chilliwack Community Band to hold free concert on Family Day

CHILLIWACK — The Chilliwack Community Band will conduct a free concert on Family Day this Monday, February 19 at 2 p.m. at a church on Tyson Road in Sardis.

The free concert will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6300 Tyson Road. The venue is only being used for a concert.

There will be a potluck-style dessert table after the concert for anyone who wants to bring sweet treats. The community is welcome to attend to enjoy the music and perhaps meet the musicians who make up the volunteer community band.

The Chilliwack Community Band has been sharing its love of music with Chilliwack for over 30 years. They are simply a volunteer-based group that loves to play music. Dale Warr founded the community band in 1987 and was also the co-conductor of the band, along with Tim Wright, for 29 years. Today, the band consists of musicians ranging in age from high school students to retirees. All members have years of music experience but it always welcomes new members who possess basic skills in music literacy.
