Chilliwack pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by a car over the weekend near Cottonwood mall

CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack man remains hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend at the corner of Luckakuck Way and Topaz Drive, near the Cottonwood Centre mall.

According to a news release dated Wednesday, February 7 from Corporal Carmen Kiener, spokesperson for the Chilliwack RCMP detachment, Mounties responded to a report of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle at the corner of Luckakuck and Topaz on Saturday, February 3. Cpl. Kiener said the male pedestrian was found to have serious injuries and was subsequently transported to hospital where he currently remains.

The intersection was closed for several hours on Saturday while police investigated the serious incident. Cpl. Kiener says Chilliwack RCMP frontline officers have taken conduct of the file with support from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services to determine if criminality was a factor. The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with police.
