Elderly man killed in fatal collision in Abbotsford

ABBOTSFORD — An 84-year-old man was killed Saturday (Feb. 3) in a two-vehicle crash in the 31000 block of Old Yale Rd in Abbotsford.

An Abbotsford police department news release says officers were called to the scene at 12:54 p.m. Upon arrival, first responders administered medical aid to the elderly driver. Despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a male, was detained by AbbyPD officers pending further investigation. The incident is being investigated by the AbbyPD Traffic Enforcement unit and patrol officers. Expertise from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (I.C.A.R.S.) is also being employed in the investigation.

Road closures went into effect in the vicinity of the crash to allow for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
