UPDATE: Westbound Hwy. 1 open east of Abbotsford following a motor vehicle incident

**Update Sunday night at 11:00p.m.: DriveBC report the westbound lane of Highway 1 near Whatcom Road has been reopened following work to remove a vehicle that was involved in the initial incident earlier in the evening.

ABBOTSFORD — Westbound Highway 1 between No. 3 Road and Whatcom Road is heavily backed up Sunday night (Jan. 21) due to a semi truck that crashed into a slough.

According to social media posts, a semi veered off the highway into a slough, prompting a response from fire trucks and ambulance, just west of No. 3 Road but before Whatcom Road.
