Cheam Leisure Centre in Chilliwack adds even more hours starting Monday
CHILLIWACK — Roughly 16 months after YMCA BC replaced Recreation Excellence as its municipal operator, the Cheam Leisure Centre announced on Facebook this past week it will be open even more hours to the public.
Starting Monday, January 8, Cheam Leisure Centre will now service the public with operating hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The new hours add six more hours on the weekend for a total of 108 hours per week.
Back in September 2023, Cheam Leisure Centre announced it would be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, for a total of 102 operating hours.
On top of the expanded hours, the YMCA welcomed back 12 more lifeguards at the beginning of summer, hired some lifeguards around the beginning of August, and plans to hire additional personnel to bolster aquatics programs at the Cheam Leisure Centre.
