ATV rider found unconscious after rollover Saturday off Chilliwack Lake Road, bystanders lift ATV off rider; air ambulance launched
CHILLIWACK — An ATV rider was discovered unconscious after an apparent rollover in the Chilliwack River Valley Saturday afternoon (Dec. 30), resulting in the patient being transported to hospital via BC Air Ambulance.
According to scanner traffic information collected by Kelsey Brown, and pictures provided by Dale Van Dam and another Chilliwack resident who wished to remain anonymous, Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department was dispatched at 2:47 p.m. Saturday for the report of an ATV rider who was unconscious after being pinned by an all-terrain vehicle at the Tamihi east campground just off Chilliwack Lake Road. A caller had advised 9-1-1 dispatch that they were walking down a trail when they located the ATV on its side with someone underneath it.
Roughly 20 minutes later at 3:06 p.m., paramedics advised dispatch that an ATV had rolled down an embankment, and the off-road driver was no longer trapped because bystanders had lifted the ATV off them.
At approximately 3:07 p.m., Chilliwack River Valley firefighters and BC Emergency Health Services were on scene with the patient, who was no longer trapped and had regained consciousness.
