Popkum Fire Department sets new record for Christmas food drive

POPKUM — Popkum Fire Department’s volunteer firefighters set a new record for its Christmas food drive to benefit the Chilliwack Salvation Army.

According to a Facebook post from the department, Popkum Fire collected over 8,000 food items and in excess of $11,000 in cash donations from the Popkum area on Wednesday night (Dec. 6).

“Popkum had another record-setting food drive last night, 8,600 food items and $11,025.00 collected!” Popkum Fire Department noted on Facebook. “Thanks to everyone who donated and helped out!”

The Chilliwack Salvation Army thanked Popkum volunteer firefighters and marveled at the number of years the fire hall had undertaken the successful food drive.
