District of Hope rescinds boil water advisory

Nov 30, 2023 | 9:48 AM

HOPE — After 13 days of urging residents to treat their water, the District of Hope announced Thursday morning that a boil water advisory has been lifted.

“We are pleased to announced that the boil water advisory issued on November 17th, 2023 has been rescinded,” the district wrote in a statement posted to Facebook Thursday morning. “The water is now deemed safe for all purposes, and you can resume normal consumption as usual.”

Hope staff previously stated that chlorine had been added to the water system in an effort to eliminate the harmful bacteria. Once the chlorine had passed through the system, the district said it would need three consecutive clean water tests before it could lift the boil water advisory. Bacteria was discovered earlier this month during regular weekly tests that are conducted on the drinking water system.

“Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time,” the district wrote on Facebook Thursday morning. “Your safety and well-being are our utmost priority! Stay hydrated and enjoy the safe water!”
