Chilliwack RCMP still looking for witnesses, video from fatal incident in August

CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack RCMP says they are still looking for witnesses and dashcam video in connection with a fatality that occurred in late August 2023 in the travel portion of Hwy. 1 at Vedder Road.

According to a news release from Corporal Carmen Kiener of the Chilliwack RCMP detachment, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the report of a female who was found deceased on Hwy. 1. Chilliwack RCMP had received a report of a person laying in the travel portion of Hwy. 1 at Vedder Road at approximately 3:15 am on Monday, August 28.

Police have not indicated if the woman was hit by a moving vehicle or how she passed.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), the RCMP’s Forensic Identification Service (FIS), Chilliwack RCMP and the BC Coroners Service all investigated the incident.
