Smith wins Hope by-election

HOPE — Dusty Smith narrowly won the by-election to become the sixth councillor for the District of Hope Saturday (Nov. 25).

Smith defeated runner-up Bonny Graham by earning 261 votes to Graham’s 253, a difference of just 8 votes. Arthur Green finished third in the balloting while Hondo Stroyan was fourth.

At this point, the results are preliminary. The result won’t be declared official until the Chief Election Officer finalizes the count.
