Boil water advisory remains in place for parts of Hope

Nov 24, 2023 | 5:40 AM

HOPE — A boil water advisory remains in effect in parts of Hope following the discovery of E. coli bacteria in a water sample last week.

Upon the discovery of the bacteria, the District of Hope took steps to clean the water system by introducing chlorine. In a statement earlier this week, the District reported water tests have confirmed the elimination of bacteria, but it is still waiting for the chlorination to clear.

In an information update to residents Friday (Nov. 24) morning, the District said it is unlikely the boil water advisory would be lifted before Tuesday.

In the meantime BlueTriton, a water bottling company that operates in Hope, has stepped up, offering bottled water to impacted residents. Bottles of water were handed out Thursday (Nov. 23) and more bottles will be made available to the public Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hope Recreation Centre.
