SURREY — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) has completed its investigation into the death of a woman in Boston Bar last spring, finding no police wrongdoing.

Emergency Services rushed to a residence on the Trans-Canada Highway on April 2, in response to a house fire approximately seven kilometers north of Boston Bar. One woman was discovered lifeless inside the home.

The IIO’s involvement stemmed from multiple wellness check calls received by the police in the week leading up to the incident. Investigators probed whether police actions or inactions had any connection to the woman’s untimely demise.

After a review of evidence, including police statements, 911 recordings, and civilian witness accounts, the IIO has concluded that there is no discernible link between any actions or inactions of the officers and the woman’s tragic death.
