Up to a foot of snow forecast on the Coquihalla between Hope and Merritt: Environment Canada
COQUIHALLA HIGHWAY — Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement warning motorists that there could be prolonged snowfall with total accumulations of up to a foot of snow on the Coquihalla Highway starting Friday night through to Sunday morning.
According to a statement issued at 3:59 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 9), the national weather agency is forecasting between 20 and 30 centimetres of snow by Sunday morning on Highway 5 (Coquihalla) between Hope and Merritt.
A weather system crossing southern B.C. will produce heavy snow over a few interior highways during the upcoming Remembrance day weekend. Between Hope and Merritt, snow will mix with rain then rapidly change to snow Saturday morning and continue through Saturday night. Snow will ease Sunday morning.
