CHILLIWACK — Rona’s Home Sweet Home fundraising campaign that ran from September 1 to October 9 resulted in Rona employees and customers at the hardware store on Yale Road giving more than any other Lower Mainland Rona store.

The Rona Foundation, which oversees the philanthropic activities of Rona stores like Lowe’s, Rona+, Rona and Réno-Dépôt banners, recently concluded the first edition of its Home Sweet Home campaign. The fundraising ran from September 1 to October 9 in most of the network’s stores and online.

Thanks to the involvement of Rona employees and the generosity of customers, more than $730,000 will go towards revitalizing living environments or making it easier to access housing for victims of domestic violence and their children, low-income families, and people with special needs or mental health issues. The 175 organizations were selected separately by each local team.

Rona in Chilliwack raised $6,047, almost double that of the next-highest store, Fleetwood Rona in Surrey ($3,090). The $6,047 raised in Chilliwack will go right back to the community to Xolhemet Society – Wilma’s Transition House, a non-profit organization dedicated solely to providing services, support and education to women and their children who are victims of the many facets of interpersonal violence.
