No more freebies at city-owned EV charging stations in Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — The days of charging up your electric vehicle for free at municipally-owned charging stations in Chilliwack are coming to an end in less than two weeks.

Starting November 1, the City of Chilliwack says it will be implementing user fees on all municipally-owned electric vehicle chargers. These rates will be instituted to allow the municipality to pay electrical and maintenance costs and were approved by Chilliwack city council at its regular meeting back on July 4, 2023.

The new fees will be:

• $2.00+PST per hour charge on level 2 chargers
• $0.30+PST per minute charge on level 3 fast chargers
