AGASSIZ — Bids have now closed on a request for proposal from the District of Kent to build a new modular fire training facility on Industrial Way in Agassiz.

According to documents on the district of Kent’s website, bids closed on Wednesday, October 18 inviting proponent firms to design and construct a new fire training facility to be located within the fenced training compound at the Agassiz Fire Hall, 7652 Industrial Way.

The district states the proponent will be required to design, supply and install the fire training facility consisting of five new 40-foot steel containers and one 20-foot steel container and level all units and stairs.

District of Kent personnel stated in the RFP paperwork that the fire training facility will host a number of activities including live fire, high angle operations, searches, laddering, fire ground survival evolutions, roof breach operations, fire alarms, standpipe operations, sprinkler systems, theatrical smoke generation and evacuation operations.

“The training structure shall be designed and constructed to support and meet all of the training activities required by the District through a collaborative process consisting of design meetings, drawing and specifications review, site inspections of the structure’s construction at the builder’s facilities and final inspection of the completed work at the Agassiz Fire Department,” the district of Kent wrote.

The district states in the RFP paperwork that it will notify the prospective bidders, also known as proponents, of the selection of the preferred proponent within 30 days after the closing time. The preferred proponent’s proposal will be accepted, subject to successful post-selection negotiations, within 60 days after the closing time.

The district states in RFP documents that it hopes to have completion by January 2025.
