Abbotsford man plans to go on an African safari after winning $1 million Lotto 6/49 prize

ABBOTSFORD — News that he had a $1 million prize through a Lotto 6/49 contest came as quite a shock to the wife of Abbotsford resident Dale Domshy.

His dream of taking a jungle safari through Africa and buying land will likely come to fruition after the Domshy won the Lotto 6/49 prize of $1 million from the September 30, 2023 draw.

Domshy, who bought his ticket from BCLC’s PlayNow.com, was at home on the computer when he received an email notification of his win.

“It’s such an amazing feeling,” he said of how it feels after discovering his win.

Domshy opted to tell his wife the good news during her coffee break at work – a decision that was sure to “perk” up her afternoon.

“I told my wife right away. She was shaking and almost crying!” Domshy told BCLC in a news release.

Domshy plans to celebrate his win with friends and family and looks forward to purchasing some land with a portion of his prize, in addition to the African adventure.

So far in 2023, B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $88 million in winnings from Lotto 6/49.

Lotto 6/49 is a nationwide lottery game drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays after 7:30 p.m. (PST). The Gold Ball Draw is a guaranteed prize draw where players will win either the Guaranteed Prize of $1 million, or the growing Gold Ball Jackpot that starts at $10 million.
