Chevron on Vedder Road nearing completion, will sell M&M Food Market products

CHILLIWACK — A gas station that formerly operated as Esso at the corner of Thomas Road and Vedder Road across from McDonald’s, DQ and A&W in Sardis will soon open as a Chevron-branded store with an On The Run convenience store selling M&M Food Market products.

Esso closed at 5688 Vedder Road earlier this year and has been closed for at least a month, possibly more, while it underwent renovation. The Chevron-branded store will have a cleaner look, a convenience store like it did before, along with the propane tank refilling station and at least four car wash bays like it previously did.

The store has the new name “Bites by M&M Food Market” affixed to the side of its new branding, to possibly suggest that convenience store customers can purchase frozen dinner products like pasta or lasagna and take it on the run.

The new Chevron gas station will be the only place to fuel up in the immediate Vedder Crossing area of Keith Wilson Road and Vedder Road. A Save & Gas location south of Keith Wilson Road closed in the past two years, and the next nearest gas station is Fas Gas at Vedder and Promontory.

At least two other gas stations in Chilliwack have rebranded in the past year. The Esso gas station near the social assistance office on Yale Road was converted into a Centex gas station. A Husky gas station at Yale and Hodgins became a Centex-branded gas station earlier this year.
