CHILLIWACK — Following record attendance at last year’s summer extravaganza, the Chilliwack Fair is poised to bring back another spectacular lineup of family-friendly entertainment for Chilliwack and Fraser Valley residents alike.

The Chilliwack & District Agricultural Society will present the 151st annual Chilliwack Fair starting Friday, August 11 until Sunday, August 13 at Heritage Park.

One of the many highlights of the three-day fair is a concert by Canadian Country Music Award nominee JoJo Mason on Friday night, August 11 at 9 p.m. Admission to watch Mason is included with gate admission and will happen after the rodeo concludes for the night.

In his six years since breaking into the Canadian Country music scene, the multiple CCMA Award nominee has been on a mission to find his own unique voice. Mason’s career thus far has seen many incredible highlights, including performing at the 2020, 2021 and 2022 CCMA Awards, receiving a trio of BCCMA nominations (Male Artist, Album, and Entertainer of the Year), and earning CRIA Gold certification for his single “Better on You” – an honour presented to him at the 2021 Calgary Stampede by his friend and colleague, Dallas Smith.

Most recently, Mason won the Entertainer of the Year award at the 2022 BCCMA awards, and his latest single “Let Me Down Easy” hit top 5 on Canadian country radio. Even with so many accolades to celebrate, some of the moments that mattered most to JoJo were the ones spent with his fans.

To celebrate 35 years, the Chilliwack Rodeo Association will bring a rough stock event on Friday August 11, along with the BCRA Rodeo on Saturday, August 12 at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday August 13 at 1:30 p.m. The opening ceremonies for this year’s event will be held at the rodeo arena on Friday at 6:45 p.m. Get there early to secure your seat, which is also included with gate admission.

The Chilliwack Fair is bringing new attractions, along with some favourites to delight visitors to Heritage Park. There will be inflatable carnival games, a daily foam party, bouncy castles and obstacle courses, a ninja parkour course, a dunk tank, tractors and of course all the traditional Atchelitz Threshermen’s Association favourites.

You can play mini golf, ride a train, try gold panning and watch the motocross riders soar through the sky. Spectators turned out in droves to watch acrobatic motocross riders undertake amazing stunts off jumps.

The Vancouver Circus school is back to showcase their talents and teach spectators a trick or two. Live music and local performers will take to the stages over the three days to sing their heart out, showcase their culinary skills and demonstrate their talents.

Back after several years away is the amazing talent of Robin Sather of Brickville Design, here to show attendees the most intricate Lego designs and let you use your own imagination to create.

So many artists will showcase their skills, from painting and sculpting to carving.

The 4-H and open livestock shows are always a staple to take in while visiting the farm animals in the barns.
